Roll To Me, by Del Amitri

I have been listening to this song for literally as long as I can remember.  My mom always loved it, but could never remember who sung it or what it was called.  :) So every time it would come on the radio as we were driving, she'd roll down the windows and blast it.  Many good memories...

Little Wonders, by Rob Thomas

Another great recommendation!  This song has a beautiful message, one that I need to be better at remembering.  "Let it go... let it roll right off your shoulder..."

Mysterious Ways, by U2

Growing up, U2 was always the intermediary between musical tastes.  During family road trips, the boys wanted Rush, the girls wanted Michael Bublè, but we usually ended up listening to U2 because everyone enjoyed it.  Mysterious Ways has always been my favorite song of theirs.  So enjoy!

What Is Love, by Exo-K

I absolutely adore this song!  It was playing on repeat for at least a week after I bought it.  Exo is a brand new group that is just debuting, with one half of the members singing their songs in Mandarin as "Exo-M", and the other half singing the songs in Korean as "Exo-K".  Both versions sound amazing, but the Korean version is my favorite.  I love how unique their voices are!  "I've lost my mind..." =)

(You can listen to the Mandarin version here)

Bad Day, by Daniel Powter

This song is well-known, but I like it anyways. :) It isn't a life-is-always-amazing song, or a my-life-is-miserable song.  It just acknowledges that bad days happen even to the best of us.  So enjoy!

A Happy Song :)

Welcome to Smile, by Uncle Kracker.  There are so many people who this song could apply to! :)  The lyrics are absolutely awesome and I like how spontaneous they sound, what with pillows and sidewalk cracks and all the other random analogies he makes.  I love how happy and carefree this song makes me feel!

New Shoes, by Paolo Nutini

New Shoes never fails to get me moving.  =)  "Hey, I put some new shoes on..."

(So, I looked up the genre for this song and it's technically Rock, even though this really isn't much of a rock song.)

Amazing, by INFINITE

This one is "Amazing!"  I love the feel of this song, it makes me incredibly happy. I'd recommend listening to it all the way through, because while the beginning is good, the chorus is really what makes this song.

Reblogged from Juicy Sushi (Thanks for introducing me to this song!)

What Makes You Beautiful, by One Direction

This song has been really popular where I live, so I decided to give it a try!
I actually like it quite a bit.  Enjoy!

Check Yes Juliet, by We The Kings

My theater group is performing "Romeo And Juliet" this year, and we are trying to convince our director to let us use this song as background music for when we take our bows. =)  Super fun song!

Sorry Sorry, by Super Junior

Last summer my friend went on an exchange student trip to Korea, and when she got back she introduced me to K-Pop!  I have found quite a lot of songs that I really like.  Sorry Sorry is a great introduction to K-Pop, and I love it!  Enjoy  =)

No Rain, by Blind Melon

Sometimes this song is the story of my life!  "And all I can do is read a book to stay awake, and it rips my life away, but it's a great escape!"

Second favorite line: "You don't like my point of view, you think I'm insane."

Why I Listen To "Weird" Music

Have you ever met someone stuck inside of a musical "box"?  You know, those people who only like one particular style of music, and believe that they could never possibly like anything else?  Somehow I was lucky enough to escape getting caught in one of those boxes.  I have always enjoyed all different varieties of music.  I think it might have something to do with being raised on a combination of 50's jazz and 80's pop. (Thanks Mom!)

I admit it.  I like "strange" music.  I'm pretty aware of the fact.  I've even been made fun of because of the type of music I enjoy.  Once I was traveling in a car with a group of girls, and requested a particular channel on the radio.  The driver turned to the channel, and immediately people started to laugh.  "This is old people music!" "My grandpa doesn't even listen to this!"  I was a little bit humiliated.  However, I didn't let that stop me from listening to what I love! The same type of thing happens when people find out that I like listening to music in other languages.  I can't even count how many times I get comments like, "But you can't even understand what they're saying!"  Why does that matter so much?  If it meets my personal criteria, I'll listen to it!

I have a sort of checklist I use to determine if I like a particular song.  First of course, "Is it appropriate?" Failing to pass this question gets it automatically thrown out.  Once a song is past this stage, I listen to it and ask things like, "How does this song make me feel?"  "Can the artist sing?"  If it passes these questions with good answers, then chances are I like the song!  Why should it matter if it's an old song, or sung in another language?  In fact, one of the reasons I like listening to music in other languages is that I don't know exactly what they're saying.  I am less involved in the lyrics, and therefore I have more room to become immersed in the music.  Listening to singers who can truly sing gives me chills in a deep-down part of me that's pretty hard to touch.

This is the reason why I listen to "weird" music.  This is why I will be making posts on this blog with Korean pop, "old people" music, and obscure bands that no one has heard of.  Music can do things to me that nothing else can. So I am going to enjoy as many different kinds of music as I possibly can!

Stay Beautiful, by Taylor Swift

"And when you find everything you looked for, I hope your life leads you back to my door. Oh but if it don't, stay beautiful."  Now that is an attitude I want to have!  Sometimes Taylor Swift is a little too melodramatic for me, but this song is very sweet and innocent.  She really does have a great voice!  =)

Lucky, by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

As I was listening to some songs that one of my favorite singers has covered, I found a video of him singing Lucky, by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat.  Watching it made me remember how much I like the original.  This is one of the sweetest songs I have ever heard!  Note to future husband: You are totally going to sing this for me when we're old and gray, okay?

(For the cover I mention, you can listen to it here)

Ta-Da! My blog got a new look! I really liked my old format, but it was making it hard to read the gadgets on the side.  As you can see, I've added some fun new quotes and things on the side, and I wanted people to be able to read them!  I tried to keep the changes as minimal as I could.  I rather like it. =) What do you think of the new look?
